The Body Shop "Hi Shine Lip Treatment"- Review

 I love natural beauty products, so I really like shopping in stores where they don't use too many harmful chemicals, and I won't have to worry about what scientists may discover about it in 30 years. (basically I'm thinking of those poor people who used to wear lead jewelry and had lead fillings in their teeth and decades later, found out that those things may be killing them)
 ANYWAYS... enough thinking about those stupid fears and back to the actual review! So  a little while back I bought the "Hi Shine Lip Treatment"  from the Body Shop. The shades that were available were quite nice, and I picked the lightest one they had and a slightly darker pinkish purple one.
 Unfortunately the lip glosses disappointed me, they were too sticky... all lip glosses are sticky but with these ones I could barely even touch anything, and whenever my hair got stuck to it, getting it off was horrible. Another thing that I didn't like was that they were too heavy, and that surprised me because what I tend to like about their other products is their lightness. I really like most of the Body Shop's products but I'm sorry  to say that this lip gloss is one I wouldn't recommend.

Henna Experience Results

As I mentioned a few posts ago, I was planning on dying my hair with henna, and this weekend I was finally brave enough to do it. I used Lush's Caca Marron, and according to the ladies in the store, I needed to use 4 blocks out of the 6, because my hair is quite thick. I also decided to add some paprika to make the red brighter. 

The process as you can tell is very messy, and difficult to do on your own, I had someone help me and I recommend that you do too. As a matter of fact, Lush offers its' customers a free session where they dye your hair for you, which is wonderful if you can't find any help. I thought that it was all definitely worth the trouble, and I prefer this to chemical dyes by far. Henna gives you the color you want, the chance to adjust it, has numerous beneficial properties for your hair, and comes out after several washes if you don't like it! In other words, everything I could possibly want in a hair dye! Although some people don't like the smell, I actually don't mind it at all. Another thing little thing I noticed was that it seemed to have some strange reaction with my gel, causing it to flake off, but I have no idea what happened there and it probably won't happen with other brands.

In the end, I really enjoyed my first experience of dying my hair with henna, and I recommend it to everyone out there.

OOTD- sheer and peacocks

We're having an unexpectedly warm fall this year, so I decided to take advantage of the last few summer-like days and ditch the autumn clothing! Fortunately it was the right  choice because the week is supposed to get steadily colder as it progresses. What I wore: top: Urban Planet, pants: Seven, bag: Steve Madden 

earrings: Aldo's Accessories, nail polish: OPI "Louvre Me, Louvre Me Not"

The nail polish is one of my favorites by the way, it's a beautiful plum shade, absolutely perfect for fall and changing seasons in general. I also love that after several coats, it turns into this lovely purple and even on the coldest days it somehow seems to warm you up from inside.

OOTD- Early Fall #1

 Today was one of those beautiful autumn days when it's not hot outside, but already too cold for summer clothing. I suppose that fall is my favorite season because September is like an extension of summer, and November feels like it's almost the holiday season once again. In between the two, all there is, are pumpkins and changing seasons. Anyways... back to the point! Today I wore a white and gray unevenly striped shirt, a gold in scarf and regular black jeans. Nothing special, but I still wanted to do a post talking about the weather.

Hair Changes

 Lately I've been considering dying my hair a bit redder for  fall. I didn't want to go completely permanent, in case it would turn out as a disaster somehow, so I decided to use henna.

 I haven't colored it yet, but when I do, I'll most likely film it as a tutorial. I have absolutely no idea of what shade it will become, as my hair is quite dark already, so wish me luck!

(I'm probably going to use either the wine red, orange or dark brown)  Let me know if you've done this before, and any tips I should take in the comments :)

NYC Sale

A few days ago, I found a terrific deal on NYC top coats! It was "buy 2 top coats for $3", which is absolutely incredible, even a pack of chewing gum costs more than that! Naturally, I bought some, but at first was slightly worried because what if there was something wrong with them, since they're being sold for such a low price, but luckily they were great!

My First Rainbow Cake

 Hey guys! So today was my grandfather's birthday, and I decided to bake him a cake! As you probably already guessed, it was a marble rainbow cake, which is definitely something I've never tried before, and greatly enjoyed. I'm not one of those girls who is really into cooking, so this had quite a lot of 'firsts' for me, but it turned out very well (especially considering that I changed up the frosting recipe a bit) and I'm even thinking about baking fun stuff like this more often!

 

Beginning was like making any other cake, but after the batter was done, I separated it into seven bowls, and created seven different colours. If you're thinking of trying one of the numerous rainbow cake recipes yourself, I personally, would recommend making the dough just a tad brighter than you think it should be, so you'll have more contrast when it's done.

 

 Going into the oven... I don't know, but it really reminded me of nail art at this stage for some peculiar reason... I guess it's just me!

Last but not least, my slice!

In this case, the cake recipe itself had a lot of sugar, so I used cream cheese frosting, it was super easy to make, and it had a perfect combination of sweet and sour. I highly recommend this cake to anyone out there who will read my blog, as it is fun to make, and delicious!
